Muhammed Umer Khalid

Prison: HMP Wormwood Scrubs
Prisoner number: A4415FH
On remand since: July 2025
Trial date: January 2027

Umer was arrested by counter-terrorism police in connection to the action at RAF Brize Norton where an alleged £7million worth of damage was caused to two military aircraft. He was put into solitary confinement for 6 days after his arrest and then remanded to prison. He is facing charges of conspiracy to commit criminal damage and conspiracy to enter a prohibited place. Since being remanded, he is being held as a high risk prisoner in HMP Wormwood Scrubs and has been denied bail like the other prisoners for Palestine.

Umer has continuously been subjected to violent abuse by the prison, namely the abuse and denial of his religious and welfare rights. He was initially barred from showering or using a prayer mat to perform his prayers, and denied access to a Quran which the prison permitted only after public outrage. Denial of his religious rights has continued, however, with prison officers physically assaulting him, putting him in solitary confinement, cutting off his clothes and strip searching him for giving the call to prayer. His calls, visits and access to post are also severely restricted and monitored.

Before being remanded in connection to the RAF Brize Norton action, Umer was falsely arrested for protesting outside a factory owned by Elbit Systems in Staffordshire and for a protest against Gal Gadot, who served in the Israeli military and was filming in London for her upcoming film The Runner. Despite state persecution and isolation, Umer remains defiant, reminding us of our duty to act: “We must now continue to crush the protective skull of Zionism, which is the UK’s political and military support, under the weight of our collective mobilisation and action”.

He asks us, “Are you on the outside afraid of consequences when this life is so short? So let them keep us here as long as they want, because you can’t imprison resistance and you can’t kill a revolution. Liberation is a promise and victory is coming insha’Allah.”
